Blackbird love songs

February 27, 2010

Last Sunday, Stephen and I went for a walk around our neighbourhood and ended up at Vanier Park on Vancouver’s waterfront. Being a bird person, everything birdy catches my attention (including this huge female bald eagle scouting out a nearby nest on the other side of the park). If all the blossoming trees and flowers all over the city weren’t a sign of a very early spring, the raucous mating song of the dozen or so red-winged Blackbirds in this video means spring is definitely in full swing. Although it was tough to see them in the thicket, they more than made their presence known.
